Ugh, this emperor is now worth the praise – why doesn’t he get a proper divorce, but instead keeps his “first queen” at his side, treats her with contempt and clearly has already guessed that she’s scheming something dangerous?
In her defense, if she was married to this shameless guy for a while and then he took a lover (or consort), as I see it, she does have a right to be angry (but not the right to plot the death of several people of course)…
Probably, things get messy with someone has multiple women. The other women take more of his time and some get neglected. All of that negativity turns into resentment.
I honestly think she also chaffes at the idea of the king being the ultimate ruler. He seems a little less competent. Imagine being the less loved of the two queens and feeling like you’re smarter than the king. She’s definitely cuckoo for cocoa puffs though
