She was born out of wedlock so normally they wouldn’t be accepted as the Illegitimate child which is usually needed for marriage or inheritance. Nobles especially kings had a huge problem of screwing their maids. Like king henry the 8th famously had no official sons but it’s usually accepted he technically had a dozen biological sons that survived but could never claim the crown since they were children of servants that were ran out of the kingdom before they gave birth and no one was gonna accept some random kid.
I feel like the price Herna had to pay for getting revenge was not as harsh as it should have been. She was given a second chance along with advantages like the guardian stone granting her powers before she reached adulthood, but all she had to give up was love? Not only that but the guardian stone didn’t fully take away Herna’s ability to love. The stone permitted her to love one person, which I suppose is a bit sad but it’s still a light price for getting revenge. Especially since just about everyone around her either hated Herna or did not want anything to do with her. What I’m trying to say is that there was, and still is, only one person who ever loved Herna. And that is obviously Racine so the price Herna had to pay wouldn’t have much of an effect on her. To put it simply, the price Herna had to pay for a second chance was pretty much nothing since being able to love only one person is clearly not a problem. That is of course Herna isn’t planning on having any children because she wouldn’t be able to give them any affection.
