I’m Stuck on a Remote Island With the Male Leads

   Decided to read ahead in the novel to get a feel for the story. It’s a bizarre one I tell ya. Could be considered reverse harem, though there is a main couple. What gets weird is the reason behind the FL’s appearance and the discrepancies in the world as she’s seeing it and what was described in the book. So heads up, spoilers incoming.

   So, the FL we are introduced to is a transmigrated soul from Korea, she’s awoken inside the body of Margaret the villainess of a book she recently read, but didn’t finish. So this is pretty par for setups so far. What get’s wild is later in the story when they start uncovering secrets. Turns out, this is not the first time this experiment has been run. It has been run on many people before our protags. The twist though, is that this isn’t the first time for THEM. Turns out the saintess mortgaged her soul to the island to turn back time. But they also had to open the dimensional door to allow Margaret’s soul to return to her body. Yup, turns out, she was Margaret all along. We’ve kind of seen this setup quite often now adays. But the whole reason nothing is adding up according to the book, is because.
   1. The saintess has at least partial memories of the first time line
   2. the mastermind did not regress as his cabin can not be affected by spells. So he is aware time has reversed on the island
   3. There was an original helper that acted in the shadows during the first time line, the masterminds sister. But in this time line she’s been locked up
   4. The masterminds sister took the saintess’s diary/notes and turned it into a book the FL would be interested in. So there is a lot of exaggerations
   5. the monsters may have regressed, but they are evolving faster because the mother monster still has full memories of the first timeline.

   So I’m sure there is the question, “was margaret actually a terrible person”. Yes, yes she was lol. When the FL awakens in her old body, she reawakens all of the memories associated to the body and visibly cringes whenever she remembers them. There is a funny scene where they talk about magic, how Margaret has the potential to be an amazing magician but she just never cared. She once took the test at the mage academy and broke the testing equipment. So they had to bring in new equipment for a retest, but Margaret never went back. The reason she went in the first place was because she heard Prince Enoch was one of the proctors of the exam. She recounts that she was very disappointed when it turned out to be false news lol.

   It has some decent humor spread throughout the novel combined with the romance and mystery. Though I feel like the author tried to write a mystery but seemed to fail a bit. Yeah, we get clues, but without to much context they’re a bit meaningless. For example, without giving to hard of spoilers. They keep coming across a name carved into rocks, objects and written on maps. They assume it’s a persons name, or maybe whoever has kidnapped them. But instead, it turns out to be the name of the island/project they are test subjects for. It’s setup to be a big reveal, but it kind of falls flat because there just wasn’t any context for it and it didn’t feel all that important. This probably would have hit better if I was Korean, and reading it in Korean. That’s the problem, the mysteries really can’t be understood unless you know Korean.

   How did they get to island ? If they drifted there from a ship, her cloths should be wet af and IF they were teleported there, then how and why on edge of island ????
