If he were to stop being selfish/toxic, invading her boundaries, and grow as a person instead of just being dependent on her, then I COULD approve.
I mean, if FL felt the same way that is (which, given her troubles and woes, she might be able to empathize).
Again, it’s NOT FL’s responsibility to make him feel alive – so I REALLY hope he doesn’t do anything more stupid and selfish than he has already done instead of letting his obsession grow even more unhealthy.
