Here’s what is wrong here: The issue is not that Abigail does or does not collect magical items [anyone interested would likely do the same], they completely overlooked the greedy maid who dared to touch the queen’s belongings all to focus on framing and dethroning Abigail. And it got so out of hand, not a single person questioned why a maid would touch her master’s things
this was my biggets thing. I thought SURELY someone woulf raise issue with a maid wearing her mistress’s belongings, cursed or not. you could claim Abigail didn’t realize the shoes she purchased were cursed, claim that she did, whatever. doesn’t change the fact that a maid was supposedly going through someone else’s belongings and trying on her clothes
What the heck is wrong with this society that calls a daughter “wicked and immoral” who was pressured by her father but still had the courage to stand up for the truth despite risking basically everything?
If this is a fairy-tale world, then I get that there might be suspicions of people being witches (also men could be suspected back in our dark past though, it was not limited to women only), but that also usually requires a common religious belief that everyone shares and something like a church – where’s that?
