Remember, all a child knows at first are emotions, reason comes later, and if you don’t give a kid the emotional suppot they need in those early years to teenager, it’s only nature that you’ll end up with a highly disfunctional child (because they don’t even know what love is, or how it is to be shown properly because they were emotionally starved).

Of course, deon isn’t justified for murdering them (if it was even “him” not his other personality)…but the fault still lies in his parents for not really doing their job as parents, they were after all, the adults in this situation, Deon was just a child when he was sent to war (which totally explains him going crazy, I would too if in that situation) and with an already skewed view of his family, it is easy to see how his crazyness ended up being directed at his parents, who instead of keeping him safe, let him be dragged off to war as a weak teenager.

When i read the ending i cried it was soo sad i understand that there was misunderstanding but i felt that the parents didn’t try especially the father he used harsh words
…bro killed his family over what looks to be an obvious misunderstanding and poor communication. he’s gonna feel like a monster once he realizes the truth
