MY READING HISTORY
You don't have anything in histories
Mandragora
The head on the plate is an ode to Salome who asked for John the Baptist’s head on a platter. Loads of paintings of a young girl with a dudes head on a platter like that from that Bible story.

oh… damn…. well it’s kind of scary how she lost it…. but still it’s stupid to execute wife of traitor when she just married him, they don’t want to investigate do they… just kill em all well she have such small time left now, time reversal price is her death, god is shady….

Well, the part with the head on the platter is quite interesting.
But why are there so many stories lately about female leads who had to experience several horrible past lives / former timelines always ending with gruesome or untimely deaths?
They only serve the purpose to continuosly hit the readers with dark and scary flashbacks and to frighten the heroine…
This time the same conception even leads to a super short life-expectancy, which is extremely sad. I do have this feeling that the “limited time”-doom will not happen though, because in most manhwas it can be prevented.
Makes me wonder why all those depressing and angsty narratives are even being so popular in the first place?

It’s only my view but
1) many people who have psychological problems, many people who are paternalistic and phallocratic, many people with very weird fantasies… become “author” of web novels “to ease theirs minds”. So you’ll find many stories among manga, manhwa or manhua which are “out of lines”… or truly freaking because of their “insanity”.
2) Mister Truck (for isekai), multiple deaths or horrible past lives are the easiest ways to create sympathy for the hero or heroine, because the author does not need to make any effort or have any talent to start his story. And the readers are now very used to this “trick”.
3) What is interesting is afterwards when the story develops: will the author be able to keep us in suspense?
