I think its because of that black mistlike demon thats sourounds her and gives her nightmare it wants her vitality maybe thats why shes bleeding so much because menstruation was the perfect time for it to try and take her vitality

I think the reason her spells don’t work is becase what Elaen is going through is not a illnes or a desiese or a wound aka the things that can be healed, but a natural process a human body goes through, yes in her case becase it was stunt for a few years so the response of her body is extreme, but since it’s something natural happening it can’t be identified as a “illnes” that should be healed
