Things took such an ugly turn.
I agree with @Rococochoco it doesn’t make sense as well.
The art is bad, but the story piqued my interest so I’m following.
However, at this point the story is starting to sound stupid a little.
I hope these people (the writer actually!) regain their sanity before readers get ultimately disappointed.

This makes no sense at all. And if everyone believes she’s some peasant girl living in an attic, why are they not judging her father? The duke must have heard about this and at least wondered how would she have had all those men killed, through what connection? And why? They were going for her benefit. The duke mentioned his head hurt so maybe midnight had already done something to him before stupidity setting up veiylin. And if she’s under house arrest then midnight should be as well, would be stupid to let him wonder around when he’s so suspicious
