I saw a few comments in the last chapter supporting Lucas and yes I acknowledge those points. Lucas truly has suffered the worst situations when it comes to poverty at the cost of his own family, thus resulting in his current personality. Lucas’s father plays a major role in him having more freedom with the Ducal family, his wealth, status and fame comes from their support but he’s also sincere with them for their kindness compared to those who he is related to by blood. After the FL reincarnated into Serena’s body, he’s now taking the time and effort to also open up to her.
Getting back to my main point now regarding Eiden.
Eiden has also suffered a lot in his own way. He didn’t even have loving parents from the start and was treated like a lowly animal among commoners. And his suffering also didn’t end even after Serena took him in. Verbal and physical abuse was common in the ducal household as well, the only “plus point” that Eiden tried to convince himself of was the fact that at least he won’t starve to death. The fear of hunger was his main reason for bearing all that abuse. Also, OG!Serena’s family also ignored his pain, there’s no way they couldn’t have known that their daughter was mistreating her servant. Even the other maids and butlers used him as a scapegoat to escape OG!Serena’s wrath.

Lucas had the freedom to choose whether or not he wanted to get close to Serena. His studies and duties as a knight kept him away from her. Eiden however, had no choice. He couldn’t escape Serena; no one cared enough to save him. He was practically moulded into a villian not just by Serena but by practically EVERYONE who excused Serena’s tyranny.
A lot of credit goes to Eiden for still keeping his sanity intact even after the boost of power he’s been given
