well you know what an easy way to get out of this is. announce a child out of wedlock and then say it’s not his. they’ll be forced to break off the engagement in an attempt to salvage his reputation because hers is irreparably shot either way. he wouldn’t want to allow it, but it’s never really been his choice in the first place, and it won’t be now. basically, turn his own family against him. either he believes you and dumps you for cheating or he doesn’t believe you and is still forced to dump you by his family. it’s a win-win

I don’t know much about this story but I wouldn’t want it to become the typical cliché where the female protagonist runs off and reappears years later with her daughter. It would be nice if the plot revolved around their relationship after finding out about the pregnancy. It would be the only story to go down that path.
