Well, no need to even go that far, if my friend was the FL I bet she wouldn’t have realised either that she was in a different world, since she never reads fantasy. I bet she’d try to reason that she was kidnapped into some isolated mansion from some weird person that wants to pretend he’s some Duke, or that she’s in some small country that still has Dukes (FL actually said this, that ML might be from some small country)
I agree that the FL is pretty slow in realizing thay she just isekai’d. Considering the title ‘Duke of the North’, weird names, and the castle, it’s pretty easy to guess that you’ve crossed dimensions. I know that in this era, there is still the title ‘Duke’ and such, you could even buy a title somewhere if you want to, but the big castle and the knights are a big tell-tale signs that this isn’t really the current era. So, yeah, I suppose FL is a little… slow.
Other than that, I think I could understand why the FL ‘starved’ herself or locked herself up. Imagine if she didn’t notice that something was definitely wrong there before she entered the castle, I bet he would still assign people to monitor her and she’d be a lot more clueless than the current situation. Also, being followed and surrounded all the time by someone (or worse, more than one) isn’t exactly a comfortable situation, so yeah, FL ‘starving’ herself is just a form of defiance to the ML as a sign that ‘no, she doesn’t want to be trapped here, she wants to go back’.
Also, one more thing, ML isn’t misunderstood. FL knows his intention to trap her in the castle just so she could be the only guide for him. What FL doesn’t know is that she’s not in her own world, that’s what FL is misunderstanding.
At least that’s what I think about the story now. There could be something wrong about the plot or the characters I talked about, so take all these with a grain of salt.
