And if there isn’t a legal method of doing so, because of whatever stupid treaty, you can act ILLEGALLY to remove them. Just hire an assassin’s guild to do it! Or have some spies bribe a staff member into poisoning them! What’s the duke going to do, go to the guards and tell them the king tried to kill him?
