I joined this discussion to share my thoughts. The foundation of the relationship between the male lead (ML) and female lead (FL) is very weak. They don’t know how to communicate properly with each other, and they don’t fully trust each other. It’s a realistic portrayal, though. They’ve been together for 10 years, and sometimes relationships go bad. The relationship they had seemed to be built incorrectly, even though they clearly love each other. The foundation of their relationship is extremely weak.
The FL is very traumatized, which makes her put up walls and not open up. This is understandable given what she’s been through. But because she doesn’t open up, it affects the ML too. People say you shouldn’t enter a relationship if you’re not emotionally stable because it will affect your partner. This is what happened with them. The ML feels like he’s always walking on eggshells because, even after 10 years, the FL doesn’t seem to trust him or open up to him. It must be very hard for him. Both of them are responsible for why their relationship is weak, but we shouldn’t blame them entirely because their circumstances just don’t match up.
I hope nobody accuses ML of cheating on FL. Yes, he did something wrong, but I dislike calling it cheating because he didn’t intend it. He was drunk, and the girl took advantage of his vulnerable state, which seems like sexual assault. It’s not okay. His confusion afterwards is realistic because he’s unsure if it was assault or if he actually wanted it due to his fuzzy memory. Let’s not blame him but instead hope they can communicate.
However, I doubt they will talk about it given their relationship’s nature and how the story is unfolding. It’s clear they’re heading towards conflict; their relationship might break. Despite this, it’s evident they love each other deeply. FL needs to work on herself first, becoming emotionally stable, while ML needs to learn to communicate better and confront the other woman. Ignoring the issue will only make it worse.
I think his actions are believable and understandable given the situation but still he really should’ve come clean when he had the chance. Can’t be upset when your girlfriend won’t open up but when it’s your time your mouth is zipped tight. And what is with that woman texting him in the middle of the night? Might as well park the wrecking-ball right outside his home.
