Why in the world did Shuran even need the witch’s help to overthrow Kael?
He killed at the slightest provocation, both allies and enemies. I really doubt he had his own loyal faction when everyone knew getting close to him could spell your death. And hey, here’s someone with legitimate claim to the throne who’s less homicidal.
Usually in these stories, they make the tyrant emperor unbeatable in swordsmanship or immortal or something, but there’s literally no reason I can see he wasn’t assassinated long before he met Lilian?
They should also probably stop reminding us he was directly responsible for dozens if not hundreds of deaths and probably indirectly responsible for thousands. Like, I know if I were acting that way I’d declare myself unfit for the throne and step down. And we’ve been shown that he’s a good person inside.
