I don’t think Viese wanted his father’s acknowledgement, I think he just has an inferiority complex.
He’s hungry for acknowledgement from anyone powerful because deep down he realizes he’s a useless fuckup. All his blustering is to try and cover up his insecurities and prove that he isn’t as awful as he deep down knows he is. That’s why he seizes any chance and listens to anyone that falsely promises high returns. He wants to prove to himself and everyone else that he is better than his father. He can’t face that he never will be so he would rather go all in on get-rich-quick schemes than take chances on actually improving himself or listening to others. He feels so pressured by being the 1st born of the great head of Lombardi that he also can’t accept help from those he sees as beneath him because if he can’t do it on his own how could stupid peasants possibly know better?
I understand that Viese has only and rather truly wanted hus father’s acknowledgement. . . . . . but he’s so easily tempted and swayed by evil that he failed before he could start. Just look at the woman he insisted on marrying.
He’s only buried himself.
😩😩 164 chapters in and that bitch is still alive. I guess it’s good in that the story doesn’t feel like it’s dragging and all the business stuff isn’t gimmicky and is actually relevant to the story, but still.
