as much as i adore this series (and i do) man do i hate the beauty standards it’s steeped in that are based in colorism and fatphobia urgh
the way i got so happy to see princess jiamin was drawn with such an adorable tan and to know that it’s gonna disappear soon. urgh. it was a minor plot point in the novel too, but it still gets under my skin. colorism sucks
(the fatphobia hasnt reared it’s head yet but it happens later)
