The way this is written it’s like the author didn’t realise they made FL both know that the ML wants her back and not noticing he wants her back. Why tell him to back off if she doesn’t think he at least wants to possess her? Why have her note the longing in his eyes then not have her think he has feelings for her?
Instead of giving FL selective emotional intelligence it’s better to just have her resent ML for having feelings for her now when she is done with him. Having her wonder what the ML’s true thoughts are is dumb because it’s not like he has the best pokerface.

One thing i keep seeing overlooked in the comments is that Elijah isn’t a saint. Yeah, she’s a victim, but she holds responsibility for some of it. I’m not saying Raymond isn’t guilty either, but he was honest. He didn’t do anything (that’s honestly the problem). He’s not a trash ML that kidnapped her, cheated on her, treated her poorly–he just wasn’t present. As far as healthy relationships go, that’s horrible, but he isn’t the villain i see the comments make him out to be. But wanna know what’s really messed up? Keeping a child secret and hidden away (regardless of reasons). I’d get it if he was a villain ML, but he’s just a dude with poor emotional intelligence trying to make things right. That doesn’t deserve having your kid kept from you.
You know what? Unpopular opinion here, but I pity Raymond. The man’s had two people he cared for (his mom and that girl who was sent away) taken from him just because he cared for them. The push for him to finally take the throne for himself was when his brother threatened to take Elijah away as well. Again, just because he cared for her.
He said he wouldn’t love her because everything he loved was taken from him. He chose to keep his distance so that she would stay with him, but the third person he loved left him because of his own actions. I think he already knew this, but only really accepted it in this chapter.
With all that said, I do NOT want them to get back together at all. He had his chance, and he blew it. He’s been trying to “make things right” for years even though the damage has already been done.

Actually Edmund is a good boy but that’s all, he’s a puppet of his mother. And his father is the former crown prince,I bet it with my whole allowance. Raymond did not give him a slightest love and affection.
