To the people defending him, first he always thought of her as a friend and like Regina but she went away , its ok ,but after THAT he married our FL they spent many years as a couple unfortunately lost their children,but had a physical relationship too but still after that he never responded to her feelings for her, and don’t forget how pitifully and craving for his love , she was living but then when Regina came back with a child , he still never clarified anything with her and agreed to divorce and now just cuz of a few years when our FL is finally happy , he comes and shows how sad and restless he has been ,so our FL should forget everything and forgive him?!!!?? Hell nah!!!! He should get a taste of his own medicine, he deserves it.

@Asosum yeah,we hate him for his stupidity. Imagine for sis years he did not bother to make a paternity test to that Regena’s child. He’s so sure that Edmond is his son(?). If he only treat Elijah better when she’s still the empress,his son Carlyle will not grow up as a commoner in another country. Now,why not he marry that Regena when after all she’s his first love,right? The reason he’s so indifferent towards Elijah and the reason why his son grew up without a father. Okay,he did not know about Carlyle’s existence. Well,it was his fault why Elijah did not tell him.
Just think oh her marrying another emperor of another country. Just let lem alone forever. Where is Jeremy? But, I know Elijah still have feelings for Ray.
Why does everyone hate him? Imagine u didnt love your friend but then noticed that u have feelings. He already paid so much why still everyone hates him i hope he and she will be happy
It’s not so much that he realized his feelings later, but the way he treated her before he did. It’s just not how you would treat a supposedly life long friend. You can have a good collaboration and communicate relationship, even if platonic but he was just straight up dismissive, negligent, and insensitive. I’d hope to be treated better than that by a friend even if we were in a contract marriage.
Exactly like the other comment said, it’s how he treated her before. In the beginning chapters, he literally said “I won’t bring another woman into the palace” and guess what? he did. Then he has the audacity to look for Elijah even after practically kicking her out of her own home, and didn’t consider how she would feel about him looking for her.
Whether he realized his feelings later or not does not justify his actions. And what has he gone through to make you feel sympathy for him lol all he had was a couple nightmares and a few depressive monologues while Elijah had to cope with the divorce of the person she loved, had to leave everything and go to another empire with her unborn child, raise that child all on her own, and make a completely different identity just so her child won’t be thrown into the royal battle for the throne. Yeah…he’s suffered sooo much.
