I hate to say this but those of you who don’t have any sympathy because someone’s abused… have my sympathy and hope you never know what it’s like. It can drastically affect your emotional well being and cause you to do things that no human would normally do (in extreme cases).
The Emperor endured abuse and watched his mother be sentenced to death. He didn’t even get to say goodbye. He isn’t a criminal, you’re lack of sympathy would be seen as forgivable in the eyes of society. However, it wasn’t like he told Elijah that he would love her and then didn’t. He made it perfectly clear.
The person whom you should be blaming is Elijah for her ignoring HIS feelings. She married him because SHE loved him. He wanted to secure his right to the throne. She KNEW what she was getting in to. You can’t make someone love you by loving them hard enough. That’s not how real love works. If it was a man who did what Elijah did, you would have said “you can’t make her love you”. He didn’t neglect her and even relied on her (he said as much BEFORE he realized he loved her).
So stop with the bashing of the ML. Abuse scars and Elijah should have realized that herself.
also i don’t care that he had a bad past, it still doesn’t excuse his actions. I’m not gonna give him sympathy just because he was abused, it’s sad, but what he does with his life as an adult is entirely up to him and he decided to fuck it up.
I feel bad for Edmund, he’s a pawn in all this. To makes things worst his “dad” is horrible!!! Even if he was involved in his actual son’s life he would’ve just messed it up. He’s just not a loving person, he’s hardly even a good one

me too. I don’t want to be mean to the author because I’m pretty sure they spent a long time on this, but nothing can really keep me from absolutely hating this dude right now. Even if the kid isn’t his son, he still didn’t stop to think that “maybe this woman is lying to me?” and just quickly accepted them, proving that he at least cheated on Elijah once in his lifetime. I’m already getting hints that he’s the male lead, so I might not be here for long either.

yeah, the female lead isn’t crazily intelligent as I was hoping. But this is most likely just a way for the author to create a climax and have the main leads reunite. Even if it’s illogical and she should’ve just kept the kid at home (where its safe. like seriously, someone could be tracking her down and she’s just leading him into danger???), this means that the male lead is going to find out the truth about his “son” and his real son. Unfortunately. I wanted Elijah and her son to live in peace with zen and jeremy 🙁
I felt sorry in the beginning, but I realized that he is a really selfish guy. He don’t care to know if Elijah is safe or if she is happy. He just want to find her to bring her back to the empire to be with him because he wants her, since the beginning he never thought what SHE wants, he just believe that she can only be happy if it’s with him. And that’s not healthy, if they truly get back together I think I will stop reading this because it’s going to be a toxic relationship, no matter how the author manage to make him good enough to get them back together.
