@ladybug91 maybe because theres a precedent of a child from an unfavoured woman (edmund) wont get too far in the throne battle and also a precedent that an “unfavoured” empress (FL) could be divorced and deposed anytime the emperor wanted (they divorced once).
the most surface level is abt the dignity of the royal family yada yada, but on the deeper level, its politic. this could present as an instability of the throne (what if a new woman bearing emperors kid come out? what if the empress is deposed again?), a threat (empress belongs to a duke thats biased to a faction) or an opportunity (my daughter could be the next empress! my daughter could bear a new crown prince!). and also, its a delicious gossip lmao.
