At least for older generations, fathers in East Asian countries didn’t usually show love to children by telling them “I love you”, hugs, spending time playing with them, or talking and listening to them…etc.
They “showed” fatherly love by earning money to feed the family, supporting them financially in education, toys, clothes etc.
People have different ways to show love.
Therefore, I don’t think the old King is that bad.
He just never explicitly showed “affections” physically or verbally to his other children.
His “love” towards his younger sister and Vanessa was more like “guilt”, “over-protection” and “obsession” in my opinion.
😭😭 Shame on the king, he’s old now but that doesnt excuse what he did when they he was younger. At the same time not being loved by the king at least gave you more freedom
