It so funny someone don’t even understand the fundamental setting of the story is in historic victoria. Where every women in high class society all wear a mask of a proper lady to attract a good mate. Because all women of that time period arent even allow to speak out of term and must absolute obey the law of the high class society in a world where men rule over everything. They think modern logic apply for the fml, they think she haven’t accompalished anything eventhough her public image alone has boosted the reputation of her family. They are an adult that worry about what teenage girls are gonna learn from this FICTIONAL STORY that serve as a escape medium from creeps that worry about teenagers online. This behavior is very mature for an adult and not at all creepy.
I’m an adult so I really feel worried what teenagers will learn from these kind of stories…for me it’s just fun to read but I hope younger ones don’t get the wrong ideas because also her family might have had wrongdoings…they also provided for her and pampered her materially, while she has been just acting spoiled all her life with no achievements of her own, I mean she says she is fed up with her family name but even now for repaying the dept she is goung to sell what is given to her by them! That’s not how the real world works! If your family don’t love you, they won’t spend a penny over you and sure there are so many poor people who will be willing to change places with her at anytime. She could prove herself to every one including her family whereas she was even hurting herself just to pretend to be some one else to supposedly seem perfect to become a crown princess! It’s really immature.
Her achievements are that she stood at the top of high nobility social circles using her own charisma. That alone further propelled her family’s name, fame, and honor. Now in regards to her treatment by her family, she never felt wronged by her family, and so the role she played(and would have kept playing if not for her fast approaching expiration) is one she herself states is her familial duty. With her anticipated death date she’s decided to live for herself while at the same time minimizing the impact that the decision would have on her family (her self expulsion from the family). Growing up in her father’s house where she was not even afforded a mother’s love and in place of that received indifference from both our father and brothers she doesn’t know or expect emotional familial bonds and sees family as duty. She performed her duty for her whole life and wants these last 30 days just for herself. Also she never anticipated being crown princess she was very aware that the prince didn’t see her that way which is why her bucket list item was to confess without expectation. I’m not trying to start an argument but I just felt you missed the unique character of this novel’s female lead. She’s not out for love, she’s not out for vengeance, she just wants to be herself and at peace.

While the doctor could be wrong is that enough to justify “never trusting your doctor?” with only 30 days left why continue the charade of being a noblewoman if she is gonna spend her dying days worrying about how others view her or being engaged to the prince for a couple weeks and fall over dead.
