They are critial about her possibly having a male patron cos sometimes those patrons were also the actresses/singers lover. Also there could be cases where the patron would own the actor/signer or claim ownership of her.
It is a valid worry eventhought FL made clear that there was no such patronage so Sophies “chastity” is guaranteed since those things were also important when woman was to marry in to a house of higher status.
I dislike the critizism against actresses (and what’s that crap about a “male guardian” anyways?), especially since Sophie seemed to enjoy acting a lot, and now it looks like the female lead’s family is making her stop acting? 🙁 But let’s see about that.
