You guys might not like it, but the fl was incredibly abusive to him, not to mention he has trauma. Not that it excuses his pushing them away, it explains it. Does Rupert really have the right to be jealous and angry after what he did? He made it perfectly clear to his wife that he wished for no further bonding with her nor his daughter but the moment someone better comes into their lives, he suddenly decides that he needs to step in?

His curse is that he needs a bloodbath (not literally), it can from be humans or demons (monster)… The origin of the curse is unknown, but it comes periodically (like menstruation), if for a long period of time he hasn’t kill, the curse will take over him and he will kill anyone regardless of whoever they are. Roel and Leah got killed originally because Roel provoked Rupert when Rupert was already almost in his cycle, so the curse easily took him over due to his frustration over Roel’s nagging, and he killed both Roel and Leah unknowingly. The only way to calm the curse is for him to kill before his curse due date or he will learn to love someone, which is what the current Roel tried to do, she wanted Rupert to love Leah, so both of them can be save from the tragedy of dying in Rupert’s hands.

I’ll be honest, Rupert’s jealousy is kind of refreshing. Jealousy is a staple of MLs, but a lot of the time it feels very flat and merely like a plot device. He, on the other hand, has been swinging hard from that pit of low self esteem from the very beginning. He’s always thought she was having an affair.

They first act all high and stoic and act like shit of a person but then when they see anyone else doing a good job or any other change , they be changing in the speed of light , turning 180° around and act like a good one , making the actual good guy from the start, as an a**hole and readers even believe in that. I don’t believe people change their nature that fast.
