The king has an inferiority complex. Well he is inferior, especially since he thinks Isabella would make a good queen. He is literally giving power to an already powerful family. The reason kings don’t do that is because those families then completely take over the throne. I certainly wouldn’t want my kid killed after they have a baby so that baby then becomes a puppet king for a shady family. The king is a total idiot. It is no wonder why his country is dying.
with @baby and @change on this. for as smart as he is, he never tried to set himself free. his bindings are his own and I think just being around Ella, someone who’s living the life he wants, is enough motivation for him to get his life together. They dont need to be forced into a relationship and she doesn’t need to bear the responsiblity…honestly if Ella is the only noble in the entire kingdom that’s responsible enough to be a role model for the CP then the entire kingdoms government should just be dismantled and rebuilt.
why does Ella have to be the one to change Gil, its not her job to fix or save him. It’s no one’s job. Gil may have had a troubled past, but it’s no one’s fault but himself that he lacks power. He followed his incompetent father’s footsteps, and that got him into this mess. I’m tired of FL’s having to be held responsible for changing a man. Whether or not the ML is toxic, the side characters are always like “he was never this way until you came along” and those words convince the FL that she needs to be the one to help him. It pisses me off honestly, like why is no one calling Gil out on his stupidity? He’s not a misguided child, he’s a GROWN MAN, he can make his own decisions.
