I’m going to bring out a new point of view for the new readers, Gil is actually the perfect fit for a king.. in his fathers eyes. It’s clear that Gil has been emotionally manipulated and possibly abused to the point he’s become his fathers puppet. Deep down it’s obvious he knows the kingdom is in ruins and something is not right but he’s been manipulated into believing he has to preform his duties as a “king” which are in reality whatever is father asks of him. And his grandmother believes that Ella can snap him out of this. Obviously it’s not Ella’s job to do any of this but in the end up the day the only way for Ella to live is to become the queen. We saw what her future already holds with her execution. If her sister remains her life will probably always be in danger.
