Uhm, so why did this guard not even flinch at the sight of the flames and explosions, why did he not try to save the researcher team or protect the facility at all? Why does he waste time instead with pursuing some unimportant fleeing servants and to dawdle about even longer in order to kill one of them while the whole building is burning away???
And of course the male lead has to appear JUST in time to save the female lead; merely seconds later and she would have been killed *sigh*
He’s probably poorly paid and has little loyalty. If he runs towards the explosions he probably would be killed.
If he says “I was out chasing escaping servants which was why I wasn’t at the site” that gives him an alibi for not running into the explosion site if he’s caught later on by the people running the experiment.
It’s perfectly understandable he is shirking dangerous duties with easier ones.
