Alright, I’m just gonna say it: the Duke’s behaviour towards FL is scummy. Not REALLY really scummy, but man if it’s dishonest. I understand that this whole contract marriage thing is more of a plot device in order to structure a story rather than a conscious decision by the characters, but it still paints duke in a bad light. He is using FL’s financial situation to his advantage and it is portrayed as romantic indeavor. She needs money, he knows that she needs money but instead of just giving it to her he basically blackmails her using this knowledge (well, she doesn’t actively need money currently, but the story and the characters treat it like she does, beats me, so in his head he is still using this as a leverage). Like, this money he promised to her is like a pocket change to him, the story tells us that much, but he refuses to give it to her until he gets what he wants from her (quite a creepy way to get a woman if you ask me). Imagine in real life a guy finding a woman who is struggling financially, falling in love with her, but instead of just helping her a bit he decides to force her to be with him via legally binding document because he’s an insecure idiot. Shitty person behaviour.
I also get that he is supposed to be inexperienced and just stumbling through this romance thing while learning how to be a better person, but it’s been 20 chapters of lies and 0 of self reflection. Not only that, but the story is rewarding him for this behaviour by actually making this situation work out well. The conclusion around his storyline actually seems to be that exploiting the weaknesses of people you like in order to make them like you back is a right way to go I guess.
Hmmm the mask guy is awfully similar to Lapel. You know? His wavy hair… And there’s no doubt he is from the Helios family too. BUT i thought he was older but then when he uncover the mask, damn you emo teenager! 🗿 I think he might be relative or cousin of Lapel. Previously he mention “my mother”…. It’s my theory but i think his mother somewhat dead, and he blames it to the main branch of Helios family so he wants to kill lapel too for revenge maybe. But i think he just an angy teenager idk i only get that vibe from that kid. Maybe our FL gonna bait him to be on their side too 🗿🗿🗿
