Had a feeling he had a tragic backstory since when he was kinda awkward about trying to comfort riyef, like the trope is used enough to where that can be a sign of the trope at this point. Doesn’t make his actions excusable tho since he literally learned of kindness and compassion thx to john and serena.

“Name an ML that doesn’t have a traumatic past” challenge (impossible). But seriously, why do these parents beat up their kids for literally no reason? Especially if it’s their biological child? It’s such a lazy plot device to give a character childhood trauma bc the author will 100% make it their whole personality. Like, is it so hard to write a complex character without abuse factoring into it? So many manhwa are guilty of this.
