Hm, I don’t really understand the drawing and description – how is the water being heated? Can’t be only from circulating, right? There’s no heating drawn in the picture, no pipes are shown below the floor and in the walls either. Is the underground water already hot, like for hot springs?
Traditional ondol heating as described in the Wikipedia does not use water at all. Instead, a fire”box” or stove is described, placed in an adjoining room like a kitchen or “master bedroom”, then a raised thick masonry floor of the main room is being heated by the smoke – like Roman hypocausts did.
