Considering her past.. she probably deluded herself into thinking it was just chess lessons due to how much she loved him, even blaming herself as to why he didn’t want her.. and so honestly.. the way she died.. seemed like she died of not only illness but her heart breaking into a million pieces… And I’m guessing why he thought he could bring his mistress into the home with the lame excuse of lessons was because he knew how much the fl wanted to be with him and was wrapped around his finger. All he had to do would be whisper a few loving words and she’d be back to him.. yes she is naive and could be called an idiot for this but really.. she grew up starving for affection from the people she loved most, sure the family servants loved her but that still can’t makeup for the affection of someone like a parent or spouse.. so she clung to him since she saw him as her one chance at love, especially if he showed affection prior to the marriage which would increase why she blames herself more than him. Because that would mean something changed after marriage and instead of admitting that he’s having an affair and try to divorce and move on from him, she instead thinks she isn’t as attractive anymore, that she isn’t doing enough, that she isn’t able to be loved anymore.. and even if she acknowledged the affair.. the only thing she knows from looking for advice is that it is somehow her fault.. which, if my memory is correct, may have been the thought around affairs in that era unfortunately..
And….. shes also an idiot. Woman n man in d room playing chess? ?? when man bring home another woman, something wrong with the wife. Remarkably idiot that needs second chance in life.
so this guy is like literally an idiot? He married into her family so he doesn’t have the power I guess it makes sense he had her killed but like why not have her killed before having an affair?
