My god, don’t u people get it she cannot stop the Duke yes he loves her but she is supposed to be a child the Duke wouldn’t think she is speaking of her own will and that the older brother made her say it,he will think the older brother antagonized him infront of the fl. So, at this point there is NO ONE that can stop the Duke, there’s no such thing as Child Protective Services and no laws to stop him. If the fl told the Duke that she not only knew that he was abusing his son but that she disapproves of it, all that would happen is that the Duke would get retribution on his son bc the fl found out at all, meaning, he’s think that the boy complained to her or the servants aka (embarrassing the Duke)

lol no she’s not really doing anything if you think about it. Yes, she’s being nice to him and making sure he has a bit of happiness. However, that is the bare minimum once you realize she’s literally continuing to allow the duke to abuse his own son. I know she can’t magically make the duke stop being cruel, but the least she could do is let the duke know that she disapproves of his actions and she’ll distance herself from him until he shapes up.
