It was mentioned around chapter 70 plus when ml received his title as a duke (or during when they are fighting for it) the duke said to his son that what he is feeling for rachelle is nothing more than an obsession (which is true, the ml is such a creep dude it irks me). He knew that this type of love will just hurt rachelle in the end just like what it did to Liam. He wanted rachelle to have a good life so that after he die, he can face liam without regrets. He wants rachelle to find the best man which he believes is not his son. I do get the father’s point but i hate him for making the wrong decisions and trying to marry her off that fucking prince.
Rachelle, until she was of age doesnt really see ml as a prospective lover. She does “love” him but not as a lover. Thinking about rachelle as the current duke’s no. 1 priority, it makes sense that he tried to split up the two.
Oh he also hate the fact that he sees liam on rachelle and her father on his son. And that they would go together. It’s like a torture to him.
