Damn, I really hoped having the visual in the adaptation would make it more understandable. Alas, that is not the case. So I’ll try and explain it for the people raging.

Those cells over her coming to terms with her own stupidity, as the scenes of history flash by on broken pains of glass. That entire scene is supposed to represent her fractured consciousness coming back together again. Meaning, she was insane from the pain, torture and betrayal she had suffered. Her receiving that apology and being forced to look at her mistakes was the key to bring her fractured mind back together again.

This is why Anthea says “Your finally back to the old Ser” because she knew that Ser wasn’t doing this because she hated Anthea. She was doing it because she was insane and thought she was teaching Anthea a lesson. This is also why Ser apologized so quickly and was in despair as she remembered everything she’d done to Anthea in her maddened state. The only reason Ser is sane, is because she’s a goddess, she just needed some sort of catalyst to bring herself back together again.
