This keeps getting stupider.
The story was already in the dumpster, but holy cow.
It’s an incoherent mess; what was the use of taking away her memories and giving them back? Nothing really. She was already going to tell the truth to these people.
What does “The Darkness” even do? Dunno, never bothered to tell us. Involves monsters, no further explanation given.
Why did Cal do that? Drama, I guess. He immediately took the word of a lying prince and a girl with no memories at face value, completely at odds with his patient, calculated approach up to then. Good job on consistent character writing!
Why is the crown prince risking his entire rep on this plan with a huge chance of failure? Because the characters are limited by the intelligence of the writer, as always.
They are stuck in the story, and can’t think of a way out, so random bullshit has to happen for the plot to move.
I gave this whole story too much credit; it is absolutely one of the worst narrative constructions I’ve read up to now.
