In the original, neither the Ain nor the crown prince had a mother figure to guide them on the right path; if anything, I think both were bad in their own way. I feel like the original story was set from the Original FL’s perspective (the black haired girl) and she only saw the crown prince as the lesser evil of the two. Ain openly portrayed his villainous schemes to keep arrogant nobles under control, often seen as the more cruel one. Meanwhile the crown prince was a easy target as a naive puppet that the nobles used as their safety net for their own interests; the crown prince’s misdeeds where more subtle and hidden from plain sight, but in the long run it’ll likely have a bad impact on the empire.
