And I disagree to the reader who thought that the duke family is power graving one to certain degree. I mean it’s something unavoidable for those who posses power and has many life under their wings that need to be protected. a head of a family need to be strong so their people will be able to live well, at least not being discriminated, won’t fall being framed as a traitor and getting their family and all the vassals, maids & knights being killed or sold as a slave. They are not living in our modern “peaceful” society, that it’s necessary for them to take that counter measures.
Honestly if you do this training gradually little by little it’ll be useful since you’ll be immune to poison. I mean food poisoning is really annoying so being prepared means it won’t annoy you in the future! ?

except that doesn’t make you immune to venom. So spending decades training poison and someone injecting you with a snake venom kills you anyway.
