So the way I see it is in her previous life she realized that although she had support (the orphanage head) it wasn’t like her friend’s support (their mothers). A mom hitting her child for discipline versus an orphanage head hitting a child is viewed differently therfore she closed herself off. She knew the teacher was not abusing her but the outside world didn’t, so to not create misunderstandings for her teacher she learned to be independent. The ML is telling her that she doesn’t have to do that, that she can ask for help and lean on someone without that fearanymore. Honestly I appreciate this view on a child being raised by a non blood related guardian because most authors just go the “I was neglected in the orphanage so I had to be independent” route. The FL had love in her childhood and a responsible guardian unlike most.

as much as i understand where she’s coming from with the anecdote, i don’t see how it’s relevant to the current situation. if anything, kind of the other way around. she DOESN’T want to be treated like some poor frail victim and wants to be allowed to exist in the world without being somebody else’s pity porn. what does that have to do with being told not to push herself so hard? those are two different things, hell, IS he saying for her not to push herself? or is it a bad TL of him saying he supports her choices even if they end up being self-destructive because it’s a choice she made for herself and he respects that?

Well, she discovered she’s a saintess (for the moon) and since she believe that she can help, she tried to lend a helping hand till she fainted, and when she opened her eyes, Leght console her by telling her she can say she’s tired if she is and it’s okay lean on someone’s shoulder (this case, coddle or hugging)
