I do agree with @Catfish on this.
A lot of FL’s have this mindset. After building a good relationship with the ML for years, they’ll suddenly want to leave. Like if you’re going to make sure he’s not a tyrant, why do you have to leave at all? especially if you become his favorite person?
But there could also be another meaning. Since he’ll eventually be able to speak later on, she probably thinks she’s going to be discarded after that. And if that’s the case, then I get that.
