Gonna suggest one more thing if you wanna discuss and spoil stuff also tell wich version of the novel you read….
For example Jenna being former empress and the curse being manually place is in the FULL (raw) version…..wich is almost double the chapters of the light novel / web novel……

It is revealed that Leona is the emperor’s child, and there is talk of raising her to the throne. The exact circumstances were not revealed, but there were already many people who speculated about the incident.

Gods do I hate Hari’s comment system, can’t even reply right. This is for Mangaforlifes comment. Leona is not the daughter of the emperor. But she is the grand daughter of High Priest. We could go to even more spoilers if you want though. Because Leona’s mom is actually still alive and is honestly awesome. She had to make some incredibly hard choices due to her situation. This is all spoilers btw.
Her family is all about the power of god. The High Priest is obsessed with their own bloodline and anyone born with their family curse or characteristics was “sacred” and belonged in the church. This included Leona’s mother who has been trapped in the church by her father most of her life. When she had Leona she was ecstatic but also incredibly sad, as she realized Leona was born with the family curse and would never live past the age of 20, if even that. The curse effects the soul, no medicine can fix it. Knowing if her father knew he’d take Leona away and lock her up for the remainder of her life. She didn’t want Leona to be subjected to her father machinimations, nor did he want to just let her die like her father would have.
Leona’s mom made a choice. She fakes Leona and hers death with a fire, then escaped the temple with as many valuables as she could carry. She went to a temple to the frigid north, where she stole their holy artifact. She used this artifact to seperate Leona’s soul and sent it to Korea to grow up safely on Earth until the body here grows up past 20 to be able to support her soul. The OG Leona never existed in the first place, it was just a sudo soul piloting the body. Leona’s mom gave the adopted parents quite a sum of money and made them promise to take care of Leona until at least the age of 20. In this way, she was perfectly hidden from the church and her father. This also allowed her to grow up safely and live.
Leona’s mom then went back to the temple in the north. Where she sequestered herself and to “atone” for her theft of the holy artifact that would speed of the erosion of the north. As well as her sin of leaving Leona behind. She decides to help the people of the north and be the last to leave. After Leona meets her, it actually doesn’t take all that long for her to sympathise with her mother as Riri has an incredibly similar illness. She can certainly imagine herself making the same decisions, but good ol’ mom encourages her and says it’s different for Leona. Because she has people who love and care for her. She has help, “lean on them and don’t be like me”.

I think emperor have bad intentions, it was somewhere at the begining that he was ploting something against the duke. I speculate that he somehow forced archmage to split duke into Ian and Luca, and its rather obvious that archmage is related to Leona. Propably she is his daughter or granddaughter and this famili of hers isnt even her famili. There will be something behind this why he didnt take care of her earlier.
