Usual heroine who doesn’t know people can bisexual and assumes her husband is gay.
He was inattentive and should have kept a better eye on her circumstances but by the standards of the husband’s in these stories, he’s not bad. He’s not cheating (yet. He did in the original story) and started paying attention once he realized his mistakes of the past.
Heroine is strong but pretty basic.
