She will end up cutting her hair extremely short, something I’m not particularly happy about. Because it doesn’t make a lick of sense to do so, when the story is based in this time period. Hair was pretty important for showing off your wealth, prestige, honor and health. Commoner women sometimes had short hair, but even well off commoners tried to keep long hair. Her cutting her hair basically shouts to the aristocracy, “I’m so poor, I can’t afford to take care of my hair”.

History is rather interesting when it comes to hair. Depending on the country and time period, long hair has been a staple for the nobility for various reasons. Even when hair could not be long, wigs instead would be made of real hair to give the illusion of long hair. It was that important. It wasn’t just a simple fashion statement, it was a public declaration of how wealthy and well off your family was. She should know this, since young children are made aware of it fairly early just by watching the adults. Let alone our MC who is much older mentally and has lived other lives before.
