I really like how the author didn’t have her ask the Duke for the chimera. Even though that was the easiest option, the way she went to the capital on her own, blackmailed the ‘pet’ seller, and is now desperately trying to come up with the money is just a great show of her character and inability to trust others (not that I blame her one bit).
