He’s trying to find a way to break the pledge stone that’s holding the castiellos hostage by the imperial family. He thinks the engagement to Iris will get him the access he needs to find its location and how to destroy it. There’s no reason to not tell Estelle unless he is trying to prevent her from being compelled to reveal her knowledge of his schemes. He’s exhausting ? at this point it’s incredibly condescending of him to treat her like a delicate flower who needs decisions made for her as if she didn’t just survive literal death and a body snatcher.
