Evil isn’t ingrained in stone. For example, Robin Hood, someone that was evil to the rich and a blessing to the poor. You can be evil and have bouts of sympathy. Like the other comment said, but I’d like to make some of a correction. Those children walking into they’re willing and refuse to come back out. They could get kicked out and go back to slum life but they chose not to. You might look at it like he’s evil, but to those kids who are stuck in a corner, he not evil.
Pretty sure dude is legitmately evil. You can still be an evil person while also being a doting parent. Evil isn’t 2D; I’m going to assume that he is very much evil just by the way he treats kids.
My theory is that she really is the Duke’s daughter. In her previous lives, he always destroyed the world because he maybe found his child too late (maybe she was already dead by the time he found her or something). It’s just a speculation, though
