Emperor deserves the hate he receives from readers coz there’s no reason he had to do Astelle dirty like that. He shouldn’t have slept with her if he was going divorce her right after. He shouldn’t have married her in the first place if he was going to dispose of her the same day. The shame he put her through to protect the throne and his country may be valiant as an Emperor but, as a man, he’s abolsute burnable garbage. Astelle is smart enough to have been of assistance to him but he lacked trust, faith and the forethought to think ahead which is why he still hasn’t stabilized his position as Emperor after 6 years. Pathetic. The only thing I like about him is his expressions that are similar to Theor.
When I look at ML I see a man who is comfused. He likes FL and wants to be with her but just can’t because of his mistakes and the circumstances. You don’t have to remind anyone what he did and still is doing, He is aware of his mistakes, he actually left her alone and didn’t bug her when she said she never loved him but HAD TO find her due to his grandma’s(?) will
Let me remind you he has even a bigger problem then his love life, he is the king who is trying to break the cycle of puppet kings and his biggest enemy is his FL’s father. So marrying her isn’t ideal for his plans, even though he does like her. SO MORAL OF THE STORY? HE ISN’T SMARTEST AND THE MOST ANGELIC ML BUT DOES HE REAAAALLY HAVE A CHOICE? SO STOP POTRAYING HIM AS THE DEFINITION OF TOXIC, THIS ISN’T BLACK OR WHITE
Are people forgetting that he basically held her grandfather and “nephew” hostage because he knew she had no reason to stay? Or when he ignored the consequences for her, her obvious discomfort, etc in order to be her dance partner for the ball where he did the previous thing?
Like, yeah, he’s not as bad as other ML in this genre but he is still an asshole, not just in the past
I don’t get the hate he’s getting.. He’s not perfect and there’s definitely things you could judge him on, but people hating him for the one night they spent together makes no sense?
He didn’t sleep with her as a one night stand, that’s just what you do do to consummate your marriage.. how could he know the guy (idr if its his dad or grandad) would die the next day and he could divorce her?
You guys make it seem like he used her when he could get some without going through the trouble of getting married. This marriage was probably decided on by their family members, makes sense to not want to stay with each other (especially if he hates her dad so much)
Think the fact that he used the contraception also shows he didn’t want that marriage and was just doing what he had to do.
Yes he was an asshole for divorcing her like that, but tbf as far as we know he didn’t kick her out our demand to finalize the divorce that quick. She decided to get it over with and live a peaceful life, which was good on her
It’s just the dumb lack of communication thing they do in almost all of these comics to keep the story going for a little longer, so i don’t get the annoyance here.
If anything, he isn’t anywhere near as bad as it gets and i think he’s an alright ml (who still deserves to be put in his place by fl of course). Love his interactions with Theor too, they both love and care for each other a lot even without knowing their true relationship, can’t wait for them to find out
Ikr, ive seen worse MLs than him. Tbh, the ML was kinda forced too. He was in a position where he can’t use his authority as the crown prince because the FML’s father is trying to monopolize the power through marrying off his daughter. One of the reasons why the ML can’t let his guard down around the FML back then (although he had affection/ crush on her) was because of her position. Although I would appreciate if the FML wont get back together with the ML (because of the complications it might bring to Theor) I don’t hate the ML that much.

He left her on the second day of their marriage after having kinda one night stand thing.. If it wasn’t for will then he wouldn’t have searched for her.. This is annoying i cant accept him till now although he is a male lead
