It’s because in their world if a married couple would have their first night,it would be difficult or impossible for the couple to divorce,which is what Ruby wants.Basically Ruby wants to spend her first night with Izek ASAP so that she won’t have to go back to Romanha anymore and suffer abuse,that’s why in the previous chapter where she got lost in the forest and met popo becasue of bich Freya lying abt the horse race,she begged Izek not to send her back to Romanha when he said that Ruby should go back (prob. cuz he was worried Ruby would get hurt even more seriously),and instead Ruby would follow everything he says,just so he wont send her back to Romanha.And once they consummate (dunno if that’s the right spelling and term,cuz Im Filipina) I think it would mean that their marriage is for realzies now,and if the Pope would want Ruby to divorce Izek after they consummate (?) he would have to pay Erendelle or the Dukes Family/Omerta Fam a hefty sum,like a LOOOOOOOOOT!!

It’s because if they spent the night together and go to the temple after, it will be hard to do a divorce, but if they didn’t annulment would be much easier, and to prove to ceasare or what ever her brotger name is, that he can’t hold ruby anymore.
For anyone saying these last few chapters have been short, they are short in the novel as well. The author is following the novel timeframe pretty accurately. Give it 3 more chapters for some exciting stuff. 😉
