I agree! It’s like there’s a lot of censorship! Well, the story is still clear and sticks to the main plot points, but in my opinion, the violent scene has been somewhat watered down. What is shown here doesn’t have the same shock value as it did in the novel. Cesare slammed Ruby down on the ground, his nails digging into her skin; he pushed her into the mirror again and again, brutally pulling on the ends of her hair. Blood dripped from her head. He was so abusive toward her that when Izek and the others entered the room, they first stood in shock, and finally, in fury, Izek lunged at Cesare.

In the novel, Ceasar is more brutal. He goes nuts and makes the mirrors shatter over Ruby, making her all bloody. He climbs on top of her and starts pulling at her hair, which is how everyone finds them. It’s pretty intense. Also the part where Ruby curses the bastard isn’t there. Instead of saying you wouldn’t have done this or that if you loved me, she says Iske never does all those hurtful things with her and that’s the difference between them. She doesn’t want to stay because she wants to be the Queen, because when she’s with Iske he makes her feel more than just a queen, he makes her a goddess. And that’s what she knows love is, not what bastard brother thinks. So she’ll never leave Iske’s hand to go to the likes of him! The dialogue is more passionate and sweet which made me cry buckets for Ruby!
As i remember, she wasnt hit just once.. but the last hit was when she was thrown to the mirror.. before izek found them.
I think the line where she compares when she is with the brother and izek is a bit different.. i think she said something like “when i am with you i want to die”.. or maybe its the translation i read..
Anyway it been a while since i read this so i dont remember the scene very well.. but i know the jist of what happens
