I think we are all forgetting how bad the schemes of the church have been. They want to control the royal family by any means. I’m only guessing here but I think that potion is a date Grape drug and we all have read enough of these to know that if you sleep with someone of high status you have to marry them, that would make the Saintess the next Empress and that’s a lot of control
I understand that the crown prince may have previous unpleasant experiences with other saintess, but it feels like he’s so close minded. It’s like he can’t accept that she might have changed for the better, he just assumes things. He doesn’t even try to have an interaction with her that isn’t him scrutinizing her.
